The difference of doors without platbands from traditional

Classic door frames have clearly defined frames. They accurately mark the boundary of the entrance to the wall. The joint between the frame and the wall is closed with platbands. Even with the platbands painted in the color of the wall, they will stand out noticeably. This greatly limits the design possibilities, since in this case, the door is one of the main elements of the interior and difficult to hide.

The modern interior demands presence in the most minimum of details. This led to the creation of stocks without platbands.

Bathroom door designs or, entrance doors can be mounted independently. Metal structures are best fastened with special nails.

Invisible doors

A block installed within the wall, having no box or platbands, makes even a classic design look original. With this solution, only a small gap in the wall can be seen, which can be painted in the color of the walls. To install the door in the same plane with the wall, a special hidden box is used, which generally not visible. The only fragment that remains noticeable is a small gap between the canvas and the box. The door panel can be chosen in any color, it can also become a continuation of the pattern on the wall. Due to the use of hidden hinges and the absence of all the usual door trim, it is located on the same plane with the wall.

This solution will suit both modern and classic interiors. Visually expands the space, you can resort to an elegant, delicate style. Door leaves can be covered with wallpaper or painted, to ideally fit into a single design.

If it is desired to make the entranceway unobtrusive on both sides, double-sided hidden doors can be used. The double-sided is installed to match the walls in both rooms.

The thickness of the canvas, in this case, is equal to the thickness of the wall. In this case, the panel is made of a skeleton or of a low-density array, which makes the design quite light.

Scope of application

When is it necessary to put in a door without the trim?

  • If there are many doors in the room, then massive wooden constructions with platbands significantly overload the space. Invisible doors will make passages less visible, which will free up space.
  • When you have a narrow doorway that does not allow for the installation of platbands or openings associated with the wall.

  • Rooms with rounded walls or irregularly shaped entrances. The non-standard layout requires non-standard solutions.
  • Interiors styled in minimalism or high-tech aesthetic, requiring a minimum of detail and clear lines. Doors without trims compliments a modern interior.

The material used in the manufacturing of hidden doors

The use of stealth doors offers a great advantage in creating a modern, original interior design that is different from classic solutions. Jambs without casings allow you to come up with original looks. Such an opportunity came through the use of hidden door frames. When placed in the tone of the wall, the door becomes almost invisible.

In addition to hidden door frames, a number of elements are used, such as especially hidden hinges, magnetic or hidden locks, magnetic seals, and hidden handles. This hardware allows you to achieve maximum realism when simulating the surrounding wall's space.

“Door frames for concealed structures are made of aluminum, which gives the structure a solid margin of safety. For surface finishing at the assembly stage, special MDF is used.”

The advantages of hidden interior doors

  • comfort and functionality;
  • Gives the space a unique and modern feel;

The design of the hidden door frame allows you to increase the thickness of the door leaf to 50 mm. This solution is very effective in reducing the level of noise.

“The sound insulation of standard interior canvases is 25 dB, the same figure for hidden blocks will be 35 dB, which gives them an undoubted advantage.”

Dimensions and installation

Cloths are made up of 1300x3500 mm. Sometimes the height of the panels is equal to the height of the room in which the unit will be installed. The thickness of the web is from 40 to 60 mm. The solid thickness gives a significant increase in sound cancelation. This solution is achieved through the use of innovative technologies.

Installation of a secret design demands bigger time and effort than classical inter-room doors. It is recommended to install the hidden box during the construction of the walls, so when planning repairs, you should think about the installation in advance. Depending on the material of the partitions, the method of installation may vary.

With brick walls, gas silicate blocks are installed in the box before applying plaster. In plasterboard partitions installation is carried out on the frame of the metal profile. The finished wall box is installed after removing the plaster near the doorway. After installation, plaster is applied or sheets of drywall are mounted, which then hides the box.

Prepping a wall for installation

The required condition for the installation of a hidden frame is a wall thickness to be at least 10 cm. This is vital for load-bearing walls and partitions. It is important to keep these dimensions as to not create difficulties for its installation. And also it is necessary to consider that the door will be exposed on a horizontal and vertical level.

Installation of a hidden door

If you do not have enough experience to install a sliding door, it is better to resort to the services of an expert. Installation services are offered by the manufacturer and supplier. In this case, the installation is covered by the warranty.

Installation is best done before the floor is finished. The box is installed on special anchors. To level the frame in height and horizontal, use level and mounting wedges. After that, the gap between the box and the wall is filled with two-component mounting foam. Then a special highly elastic solution is applied to the box to prevent the formation of cracks between the plaster or plasterboard and frame. The use of a special solution is preferable to a reinforced mesh or non-woven fabric, as these materials provide poor support with surface vibrations.

Features Door Designs 16

“When installing the frame, consider the thickness of the plaster, the preparation of the walls, and the thickness of the finished floor. Installation of hidden doors requires precision fitting and installation.”

Any error in size can lead to the fact that the panel simply will not fully open, and form a noticeable gap. Additional loops must be installed if the canvas expands.
